Makeup Hygiene: How To Store And Care For Your Makeup

Peters Precious Oshone

Makeup hygiene is a very important part of your skin health. If you don’t maintain cleanliness and handle your makeup with care, they could become infectious to your skin. The first step to a good hygiene is to have a kit or a bag where you carefully store all your makeup products. Don’t just dump your makeup items in a drawer or wardrobe or even expose them somewhere on a rack where rodents can walk past them. Ensure they are properly and hygienically kept.

Also, to avoid infections, do not share your mascara and liquid eyeliner. Makeup sponge and cream foundations also should not be shared. Many ladies are fond of sharing these items with one another because they feel it’s of little or no consequence. Well, let’s make it simple; sharing these items is like sharing your bath towel. It makes you susceptible to skin diseases and infections. Guide your skin jealously; stay hygienic with your makeup.

Also as a part of makeup hygiene, you need to know the durability of each product in your makeup kit, to avoid using expired substances that could harm your skin. Once you’ve opened your product, be careful to note the period in which you did, so you can know when it’s time to change to a new one. Like any other hygienic practice, make-up hygiene deserves a great deal of attention. Below is a list of makeup products and how long to keep them.

  1. Foundation: 1 year
  2. Liquid foundation: 6 months to one year
  3. Eyeshadow: 1 year
  4. Blush:. 1-2 years
  5. Liquid blush: 1 year
  6. Eyeliner: 3-6 months
  7. Liquid eyeliner: 3 months
  8. Mascara: 3 months
  9. Powder: 1-2 years
  10. Lipstick: 1 year or if it gives an odour

Make-up hygiene is very important in order to maintain that gorgeous looking face. Stay clean; stay beautiful. Cheers!
